Siegfried Kadisch was born on August 6th, 1877  in Berlin.  Very little is known about his lifetime other than what was told to us anecdotally by our mother, Anneliese Hunkins. Our understanding is that he was a wealthy retail merchant and businessman. He owned fine men’s clothing stores that were known for their high-quality neckwear.  He married Lina Kadish (nee Klein), and they had one son, Heinz Kadisch. Given his wealth, he became an early target of the National Socialists even prior to the mass persecution that began with the Kristallnacht on November 9, 1938.  Our understanding is that he was being pursued by the SA and the SS seeking to arrest him on August 4th, 1938.  He chose to escape to his death rather than being arrested by jumping from his balcony at Solinger Str 3. He was found on the street below with fatal injuries as confirmed by his death certificate.
