We know very little about Hannelore Strauss.
She was born in Munich on 6 October 1926, the daughter of Wolf Strauss and Emmi Mosbacher.
We know from her school card that her parents were divorced and that she lived, at least temporarily, in the Kapellner children's home at Hermannstr. 11 in Zehlendorf.
However, she was deported together with her father and sister Inge on 20 November 1941 from München to Kowno (Kauen), Fort IX.
According to the memorial book, she was murdered there on 25 November 1941.

Their fate was researched 15 years ago by young people from the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gemeinde and the stone was produced. In the course of this research, it turned out that Hermannstraße 11 was the Kapellner children's home and that there were many more victims.
The laying of the stone was therefore suspended.
In 2021/22, pupils from Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium endeavoured to research the case and brought much to light.
A STOLPERSCHWELLE was then laid on 16 February 2024, as well as stumbling blocks for the Kapellner family who ran the business and, as examples of other victims, stones for Hannelore Strauss and Harry Abraham.
