Alice Goldschmidt was born on 22 October 1890 as the daughter of the merchant Mose Goldschmidt (1843-1900) and his wife Lina Goldschmidt (née Blum) in Monsheim/Hesse.
Alongside Flora (1886-1942) and Julie (1887-1945), she is the youngest daughter in the family.
We do not know how she grew up or whether she learnt a trade.

In 1934, her sister Flora and her husband founded the "Kapellner Children's Home" at Große Weinmeisterstraße 26/27 in Potsdam and advertised it in various newspapers.
From 1936, this children's home operated under the address Herrmannstraße 11 (today 11a) in Zehlendorf. It is not known why this change of address took place; we can only assume that the death of Heinrich Kapellner (1889-1936), Flora's husband, was connected to it.
Perhaps Alice moved to Berlin to support her sister? In any case, the two now ran the children's home together.

In addition to Alice Goldschmidt and Flora Kapellner and their two daughters Ingeborg and Nora, at least 40 children and young people lived in this home, many of whom were murdered in the Holocaust.

Alice Goldschmidt was deported to Auschwitz on 29 January 1943 together with her niece, Nora Kapellner, on the "27th Eastern Transport" and murdered there.
